LEAD stands for Language Enrichment Across Disciplines and is a content area reading course that all 6th grade students take. In this course, we explore reading tools and strategies to assist students in the reading of content area material. We also learn about note-taking tools and how to use various graphic organizers. The goal of LEAD is to help students become more successful readers of non-fiction material across the curriculum. To help us meet our goals, we use the Reader's Handbook textbook published by Great Source (2002).
Students in Mrs. Mahaffey's LEAD class will be adding information to our wiki on a unit by unit basis. This is a way for students to review information we have been learning about in class.
